About

I live in a fantastic place: in the city (The Hague), yet right at the edge of the dunes and the sea. I need these extremes; contrast is the common thread running through my life.

Naturally I am an observer. I prefer to listen rather than speak and enjoy watching from a distance. Yet it is often my enthusiasm and spontaneity that others notice first.

I experience the world around me with sensitivity. I am drawn to what is beautiful and essential, while minor details often pass me by. Beauty moves, amazes, and inspires me; it is the driving force in my life. Photography allows me to express this in an artistic way. As a self-taught photographer, I have developed my own way of seeing. Through my work, I aim to capture what feels essential to me. Nature and classical music are major sources of inspiration.

For me, music is the highest art form, something even photography cannot surpass. My interests are broad, but classical music is central. I love composers such as Mozart, Mahler, Bruckner, Schumann and Shostakovich. As a violinist in a symphony orchestra in The Hague, I have the privilege of performing their music.

I am also deeply connected to nature. I spend almost every day in the dunes or by the sea, and I swim in the North Sea year-round. In the early mornings, I walk to the beach with my backpack and a thermos: first a swim as the seagulls glide overhead, then coffee in the sand. These are the moments when I feel most at peace with myself. At the same time, I thrive on the energy and vibrancy of the city. During my studies in Spanish language and literature, I lived and worked in Mexico City, and years later I lived in Yokohama. Even in metropolitan cities I feel completely in my element.

In recent years, I have primarily worked as a portrait photographer. While I enjoyed this, I missed the creative freedom and calm to work at my own pace. That is why I now focus on fine art photos of landscape and nature, where my heart truly lies. I am still available for assignments related to classical music.
